Since 1 January 2024! the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) has become a federal office! now called the Federal Office for Cyber Security (FOCS). Attached to the Federal Department of Defence! Civil Protection and Sport (DDPS)! the FOCS’s main mission is to make Switzerland safer in cyberspace.
The OFCS is responsible for continuing the core tasks previously assigned to the NCSC! namely ensuring the coordinated implementation of the national cyber strategy. It is also responsible for raising public awareness of cyber threats and warning of cyber attacks! according to the text .
Diversified missions for the OFCS
The OFCS receives reports of cyber incidents and helps operators of critical infrastructure to manage these incidents. It also carries out technical analyses to assess and counter cyber incidents and cyber threats! as well as overseas chinese in europe data to identify and correct gaps in Switzerland’s protection against cyber threats.
Florian Schütz! former Federal Cybersecurity Commissioner and head of the former NCSC! heads the new federal office . With more than ten years of experience in the private sector in IT security ! he is well placed to tackle the challenges of cybersecurity on a national scale.
A safer Switzerland in cyberspace
