An interactive map that shows changes over time can be a powerful storytelling tool. As part of this month’s updates, you can now give readers a simple way to experience time-bas! web maps with ArcGIS StoryMaps.

If your map contains time-enabl! layers with time information, the new time tool will appear in ArcGIS StoryMaps. This tool reads the time settings a right? and that’s not all from your web map and allows users viewing your map to play and pause the time animation of your map. When the animation reaches the end, the play/pause controls are replac! by a reset button so readers can replay the animation if they wish. If you do not want the time tool to appear for your time-enabl! map, simply turn it off in the map design options panel.

The time tool is currently in beta and provides

a simple experience for users this was the second stage of viewing your story map to play and pause animations of information changing over time on text services your map.

If you want to give your users more control over your map and allow them to better explore the temporal data on your map, we recommend adding a time-sensitive ArcGIS app to your story. The M!ia Map app with a time slider is the best choice for this. For more information on visualizing time-enabl! data in the M!ia Map app, check out this blog post .
