Who are facilitators? How do they work?

What helps them, what hinders them, and how do they learn? Despite the growing interest in facilitation in business, we still lack data on who facilitators are, how they learned their craft, and what tools and methods they use. You can find out in our report.

What is facilitation?

Facilitation is the art of effectively running meetings and  chinese overseas europe database   workshops. It is a key competence for leaders, managers, experts and specialists. It can be developed by practicing and observing others, drawing inspiration and good practices from them.

In 2022, SessionLab, our content partner, conducted the world’s first comprehensive survey on the current state of facilitation, collecting responses from over 1,100 respondents from over 90 countries! Curious about the global results? Check it out for yourself at this link.

In the global report we only had 4 respondents from Poland, so we decided that it was the best time to personalize the report to the Polish version and check… what does it look like in Poland?

What was our goal?

  1. Getting to know the community that designs and runs meetings and workshops professionally or as part of their daily work.
  2. Inspiring facilitators and meeting designers to develop, deepen and improve their competences while having a joint conversation about what  after a challenging 2021, 2022 arrives with great news   facilitation is and where it can go.
  3. Challenge the Polish facilitation community to explore and develop the topic of better meeting design and management.
  4. Amplifying the Voice of Facilitators, our goal is to make all facilitators feel seen and heard.

What did we do?

To gather answers, we reached out to our colleagues, clients, business partners and friends. We did our best to make the survey as widely accessible as possible.

Most of the responses were obtained through our own channels, such as the newsletter . Social media or participation in local Socjomania events. This may help explain some aspects of the data we collected, for example the overrepresentation of belgium numbers  responses from the Małopolska and Mazovia provinces. We hope that the next editions of the report (and we are planning them!) will allow us to reach an even wider group of respondents.
