Elon is furious! After some provocations and some cursing, he lets go of all inhibitions. On July 23, 2023, Musk announced that Twitter would be called ‘X’ in a few hours. A day later, the famous blue bird was shot by the ‘X’ logo.
But Twitter’s journey to “X” isn’t without its bumps. There are legal issues as well as a fair few telemarketing data technical ones. And in addition to the new “X” logo, the social media platform is also making some drastic changes. For example, we’re saying “bye bye” to dim mode (dark blue background), a feature that’s been part of your Twitter experience for a while now. Dark mode will also become the new default. Yep, it looks like “X” is a whole new beast with its own identity and purpose.
In addition, ‘X’ introduces
a new feature called ‘Articles’. This feature allows you to write longer content, similar to blog posts. These ‘Articles’ will not be part of the standard ‘X’ timeline, but will get their own section. You will be able to embed photos, videos and of course X’s (formerly tweets) in your ‘Article’. It reminds us a bit of LinkedIn articles.
‘X’ is taking the plunge and is fully prepared to take on the battle, not only with Meta, but also with channels such as LinkedIn.
TikTok: The Wildcard
Brace yourself because we’re not done yet! TikTok couldn’t just ignore this battle. After all, the platform wants a piece of the pie too. While this Meta and X (formerly Twitter) fight for a leg, TikTok is shaking things up with a new feature. You guessed it… Just as Threads is challenging X, TikTok is busy transforming its platform to provide an improved experience for users.

How? While TikTok is known for its short videos, it will soon offer the ability to share your thoughts and ideas via text posts. Yes, you europe email read that right. TikTok is betting on text-based posts.
So, with this new feature, users can create X/Twitter-like posts. Whether TikTok can really compete a step further in the agent ecosystem with X with this new feature is still the question. But one thing is for sure: There is absolutely no fear to innovate and try new things.
